My Alaska Fiber Festival>

This is my dear friend Kathy Jolman, helping me sell my calendars at the Snow Goose. The quilt behind us is all wool, hand-dyed by the 2 of us, using things from nature. We spent 2 summers collecting things like black walnuts, goldenrod, cochineal, tea, coffee, moss, poke berries, natural indego, & onion skins, & dying the wool. I pieced the top prior to our drive back to Alaska from Michigan, then appliqued a blocks each day, showing things we saw along the way. This is "Our Journey Home'. It has a wool batting & flannel back, & it took we 4 winters to complete hand quilting it. It got a 2nd place ribbon at the Alaska State fair (which I was surprised & pleased to get, as my hand quilting isn't all that great!)
